KATYAYINI GARGI
Katyayini Gargi (b. 1990, Bangalore) is a visual artist who lives and works in Goa. She holds a B.V.A in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda (2013) and an M.V.A from Central Saint Martins, London (2015)
Her practice spans painting, animation, video, sound, sculpture, and writing, often moving between mediums to reflect on identity, memory, and the space between presence and absence. Alongside her visual work, she composes, produces, and performs music under the moniker Skulk, releasing albums and EPs that extend her practice into sonic registers..
Katyayini’s recent exhibitions include Mycelial Legacies IV, curated by Deeksha Nath, Anant Art, New Delhi (2025), Mirror/Mirror, Anant Art, New Delhi (2024); ART SG, Singapore (2024); Out of Turn, curated by Adwait Singh, Modern Art Gallery at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2024); The Figure of Sound, curated by Dr. Preeti Ramaswamy, Anant Art, New Delhi (2023); and Mycelial Legacies, curated by Deeksha Nath, Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi (2023) among others.
She has also participated in projects with Khoj International Artists’ Association, CONA Foundation, Guild Art Gallery, and the Sculpture Park, Jaipur
She is a recipient of the Experimenter Generator Co-operative Art Production Fund (2020) and was shortlisted for the Frase Contemporary Art Prize (2017). Her early accolades include the Mona Hatoum Scholarship and the Jeram Patel Award (both 2013).
