Sanyukta Kudtarkar (b. 1998, Mumbai, India) holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts (Painting) from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai and a Master’s in Visual Arts (Painting) from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. 

In an age where digital connections often replace physical presence, her interest in portraiture and figuration explores the tension between intimacy and distance in virtual interactions. She translates digital stills, including video calls, internet images, and family archives, into tactile compositions using acrylic, gouache, mixed media on raw cloth, and oil on canvas. Her recent work is rooted in familial and social realities, especially the dichotomy between public and private selves, and the personal and political. A recurring figure in her visual lexicon is her father, a politician whose public image she contrasts with scenes of domestic life, capturing middle-class mundanities and unguarded moments. 

Sanyukta was awarded the Abir First Take Award (2023), the Late Shri B.D. Shirgaonkar Award (2022), the Bombay Art Society Award (2022), and the Padmashree Dr. Vishnu Wakankar Award (2022). She is a recipient of the Art Society of India Scholarship (2022) and placed fourth and fifth respectively in the International Summer Scholarships by the Florence Academy of Art (2021, 2019). Her group exhibitions include the Abir First Take at Bikaner House, Delhi (2023), the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Delhi (2023), the Contemporary Women Artists Award Show, Chandigarh Government Museum (2023), and the Prafulla Dahanukar Award Show, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2022).
