Bhimanshu Pandel (b. 1995, Jaipur, India) obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Painting) from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat in 2016, a Master of Fine Arts (Glass) from the Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh in 2018, and a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship at the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne in 2019.

Working across drawings, paintings, and sculptural installations, Bhimanshu’s artistic sensibility evolved from his family’s agrarian origins in rural Rajasthan, and addresses the philosophical underpinnings of identity and humanistic values associated with his cultural heritage. Informed by a sustained interaction with the Bishnoi, Rebari, Bhopa-Bhopi, Gujar, Banjara, Charan, and other local communities in Rajasthan, he seeks to re-contextualize the sacred plants and trees of these communities within a contemporary communal space, employing a ‘hauntological’ lens to view different folk traditions. His art, characterized by a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques, is geared towards preservation – primarily of the pre-colonial collective memory of rural communities.

He received the Nasreen Mohamedi Scholarship from his alma mater in 2017, the India Artist Relief Fund from the Museum of Art & Photography, Bangalore in 2022, and the Emerging Artist Award – South Asia from The Arts Family, London in 2023. His notable exhibitions include Naya Anjor, curated by Arushi Vats, Anant Art at Bikaner House (New Delhi, 2022), and Our Conspiring Hosts: Of Rivers, Vines, and Microbes, curated by Adwait Singh, Anant Art at Bikaner House (New Delhi, 2024).  Bhimanshu is currently based in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
