SEJAL SOLANKI
Sejal Solanki (b. 1995, Ahmedabad, India) obtained a Diploma in Painting from Sheth C.N. College of Fine Arts in 2023 and completed her Post-Diploma in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2025.
She draws from her upbringing in a chawl, capturing the dichotomies of shared living—marked by psychological, social and economic impact—where isolation, irritation, anger and powerlessness surface amidst intimacy. The sound of a brawl, fragments of overheard conversation, a corner in the chaos, a passing couple on a motorbike or a stolen glance between lovers punctuate the drama of everyday life. Influenced by the wash technique of the Bengal School, she works primarily with tea wash, gouache and water-based techniques, creating memory laden artworks sensitive to the beauty of ordinary moments.
She has participated in exhibitions including Art Mela 2.0 at 105 Art Gallery (Punjab, 2025), Where the Light Gets Out (2024), Nasreen Mohammedi Scholarship Display (2025) and Annual Display (2025) at MSU Baroda. She was selected for the Monsoon Residency at Space Studio (Baroda, 2025) and is a recipient of the Nasreen Mohammedi Scholarship (2025) and a Merit of Honour (2021).
